About

These are the online musings of a 52-year-old learning to be a granny for the first time. I began this blog during the balmy days of August 2011, partly as a displacement activity (I still miss having my own children around) and partly in the hope of keeping an honest, real-life account of family life in the 21st century.

I also hope I will hear from other like-minded grannies, with their comments on how so many things have changed while one thing has not – grandchildren are still a wonderful blessing.

I don’t know whether there is a typical grandmother, but perhaps this blog will also help dispel some myths. I’m certainly not at all like one of the nanas on the Shreddies boxes (you won’t find me knitting or hear me talking about stair lifts or zimmer frames).

I’ve decided to blog anonymously, as I want to be completely honest about my life as a grandmother and don’t want to cause offence to any of my long-suffering family!

Since September 2011 The Undercover Granny has been sponsored by Interflora, something I am truly thrilled by!
